During 2017 Student Council Shield was introduced at Kalamia State School and each year, the names of the members of the Student Council executive are engraved on a plaque in recognition of their contribution to the school.
The Kalamia State School Student Council is a committee composed of students, elected by their peers, with the purpose to develop leadership skills, fundraising events contributing to the betterment of the school community. The roles of Environmental Champion and Master of Ceremonies are recognised as integral roles within the Student Council and Leadership Team.
The Student Council representatives are nominated by our student body, and in turn, each student presents a speech to their peers and staff, outlining how they would support and strengthen our school during the year.
Each student is asked to vote for candidates applying for the positions of President, Secretary, Treasurer, Environmental Champion and Master of Ceremonies and the successful candiates are welcomed into their role with a special presentation ceremony.
Student Council meeting are held twice a term, during school time, and updates are published in the Kalamia Klatter.
