A huge congratulations to our very own Isabella Colls, whose outstanding persuasive speech, Every Minute Matters, took out the winning spot at the Colls Memorial Lecturette Competition, hosted at the Home Hill State School Performing Arts Centre.
Year 6 students from across the Burdekin came together to share their ideas, challenge thinking and use their voices to speak about issues that matter. From kindness and the arts, to giving teenagers the right to vote, the range of topics showcased the confidence, creativity and critical thinking of our young people.
Isabella’s winning speech shone a spotlight on the desperate need for a 24-hour fire station in the Burdekin and surrounding areas, powerfully reminding us that when it comes to community safety and emergency response, every minute matters.
We are so proud of Isabella for her courage, conviction and willingness to advocate for her community. It takes confidence to stand before an audience, share your perspective and inspire others to think differently.
What an incredible example of student voice, leadership and how your words can make a difference!
